Khatereh Borhani

Principal Investigator

Dr. Khatereh Borhani is an assistant professor in the Institute for Cognitive and Brain Sciences (ICBS) at Shahid Beheshti University. She completed her PhD in Joint program in Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Bologna (Center for studies and research in Cognitive Neuroscience) and University College London (Action and Body group). Prior to joining the ICBS as a faculty member, she conducted one-year postdoctoral research fellowship at Shahid Beheshti University.

Neda Ghaemi

PhD Student

I am Neda and I received my master's degree in industrial engineering. Currently I am a PhD student in cognitive neuroscience at ICBS. my research interests include social influence and its neural undepinings. I am interested to study how our decision making is affected by others' influence and what the role of social norms is in between. My PhD is Co-supervised by Dr Bakouei.

Soroosh Golbabaei

PhD Student

Soroosh is a second year PhD student in Cognitive Science. He studied Psychology and Material Science at the University of Tehran. Despite his previous research in neuroimaging and neural correlates of neurodegenerative diseases, he is now focused on interaction of cognitive and affective empathy utilizing bodily signals.

Melika Farhadi Fard

MSc Student

Melika is pursuing a master's degree in cognitive science with a focus on cognitive rehabilitation at Shahid Beheshti University (ICBS). Her expertise in psychology has led her to take a keen interest in the social cognition development of children. Melika's research is currently centered around the impact of temperament and cognition on behavior and emotions, with a specific emphasis on the levels of shyness exhibited by children.

Fatemeh Jafari

MSc Student

I am Fatemeh, and I'm excited to tell you about my academic journey. I have Bachelor's degree in psychology and now pursuing my master's in cognitive science at the Shahid Beheshti University’s Institute for Cognitive and Brain Sciences. unraveling the complexities of why people choose to act altruistically and how group dynamics impact our decisions is at the heart of my quest.

Farzan Barkhordari

MSc Student

Throughout my psychology studies, my interest in social cognition and its role in mental and neurodevelopmental disorders grew. I am currently studying cognitive science to pursue my passion for exploring how our social brain shapes our thinking, interactions with others, and overall experiences, particularly in the context of mental and neurodevelopmental conditions. Also , I am involved in my master's thesis research, focusing on the investigation of social decision-making in individuals with ADHD.

Hossein Azadi Kaymoor

MSc Student

Hossein was studying marine engineering at Amirkabir University of Technology, but he decided to follow his passion, so he changed his field and did his bachelor's degree in psychology at Imam Khomeini International University. Currently he’s pursuing his scientific journey in social cognition at SCON Lab. His master’s thesis focuses on neural underpinnings of social decision-making under the supervision of Prof. Vahid Nejati and Dr. Borhani.

Mohammad Reza Bigham

MSc Student

I obtained my undergraduate degree in civil engineering at the University of Tehran. Still, due to my interest in cognitive sciences, I decided to change my field and now I am studying cognitive sciences at the Institute for Cognitive and Brain Sciences at Shahid Beheshti University. My research interests lie in the area of empathy, decision-making, and cognitive modeling. I am currently working on prosocial decision-making and altruism.

Negin Khodaei

MSc Student

I am currently a master’s student in cognitive science at Shahid Beheshti University. Prior to this, I completed my undergraduate studies in psychology. My research project delves into the cognitive processes associated with changes of mind and social influence. Specifically, I am investigating human social perceptual decision-making using psychophysics and within the context of various mental conditions, such as alexithymia and autism.

Zahra Karami

Researcher

Zahra got her bachelor's degree in psychology at Kharazmi University. Because of her interest in brain and neuroscience, she bridged from psychology to cognitive neuroscience. After getting her master's degree in Cognitive Rehabilitation, she started researching the effect of Alexithymia on social decision-making.
